The application process for admissions in the Atal Residential Schools has commenced, for the session of 2024-25.

The Atal Residential School Scheme, initiated by the government of Uttar Pradesh to provide quality education to the children of labourers who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, has opened its application process for the 2024-25 academic session. The application process is offline and interested candidates can obtain the application form from the office of the District Probation Officer.

As per the latest updates, the deadline for submitting applications is February 8. The admissions are available for classes 6 and 9, with a total of 240 students set to be admitted based on their performance in the entrance examination. The admissions will be granted according to a merit list and successful candidates will undergo a counselling process.

Jaipal Verma, the District Probation Officer, emphasises that labourers registered with the Labor Department, having completed a year of registration, will receive maximum benefits under this scheme. Such registered workers can secure admissions for two of their children in the Atal Residential School. Additionally, orphans and economically disadvantaged children are also eligible for this scheme.

This initiative aims to support the education of children affected by the pandemic’s impact on labourers’ families, ensuring that they receive quality schooling and nurturing environments. The scheme underscores the government’s commitment to providing educational opportunities for vulnerable and economically disadvantaged segments of society.
