Controversy has arisen in Bihar over the organization of training programs for government teachers on Holi and the annual examination of school students on Good Friday. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has sought intervention from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in this matter. A circular issued by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) on March 20 said, “The authorities concerned must ensure that all primary school teachers (classes I to V) who have not attended the training session earlier ) will have to participate in a six-day training session. The Council will conduct Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Day Training from March 25 to 30.” “The circular has been sent to all Principals of Teacher Education Colleges (CTE), District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Primary Teacher Education College (PTEC), Block Education and Training Institute (BIET) and other concerned officials.” According to the letter, a total of 19,200 government school teachers will participate in the FLN training at 78 training centers of the department from March 25 to 30. SCERT has made it clear that “no leave will be granted” to all concerned during the training period. SCERT It is the highest educational body in the state responsible for school and teacher education and is a part of the education department. The Bihar government has already declared Holi and Good Friday as public holidays and all state government offices will remain closed on those days. Similarly. The department's decision to conduct the annual examination for Class VII also on Good Friday (March 29) has sparked controversy. Even Principal Secretary to the Governor of Bihar, Robert L. Chongthu, in a letter to the Chief Secretary, said the department SCERT's circular and Raj Bhavan's letter to the Chief Secretary have both been obtained by PTI. Despite repeated attempts, Education Minister Sunil Kumar has refused to do so. The issue could not be discussed.
Tejashwi Yadav wrote on 'X', “As per the order of the NDA government in Bihar, teachers will have to be present even on the day of Holi. This has never happened before in Bihar…when the entire state is celebrating Holi, teachers will stay away from their families on that day. The Chief Minister should intervene in the matter.”
