If sufficient candidates are not found subject wise in the recruitment of basic teachers, permanent teachers already working in government schools will get a chance to apply for recruitment. In special circumstances, vacant posts can also be filled through direct recruitment. In this situation, already working teachers will be given a relaxation of two years in the age limit. The government has made this provision in the Government Elementary Education Teacher Amendment Service Rules-2024. There are 3253 vacant posts of basic teachers in the state. After the approval of the rules, the Education Department is preparing for recruitment on these.
According to Basic Education Director Ramakrishna Uniyal, permission is being taken from the Election Commission to start the recruitment. According to the proposed new rules, only those with D.El.Ed or four-year B.El.Ed can apply for the post of Basic Teacher. At present, there are not enough eligible candidates available as per the posts in both the categories in the state. According to the rules, if eligible candidates are not found, the Director of Basic Education can give an opportunity to the assistant teachers originally appointed in government schools or affiliated primary schools to apply. The period of compulsory service for this post may be reduced from five years to three years. Even after this, the option of direct recruitment has been kept open if the post remains vacant. Lower ranking permanent teachers may also be included in this. Also, their maximum age limit has been increased from 40 to 42 years.
Recruitment should be done in a phased manner
DIET D.El.Ed trainees on Friday demanded the government to conduct the basic teacher recruitment in different phases instead of doing it all at once. Diet D.El.Ed Trainee Association President Shivraj Rawat and Media Incharge Vijay have also requested to start the recruitment process soon. He said that the training of the batch of 2019-20 D.El.Ed has been completed in December 2023.
Memorandum submitted to BJP state president
State co-convenor of BJP NGO cell Tejram Semwal has also given a memorandum to BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt. Said that due to Corona epidemic, the session of D.El.Ed had started much late. It would be unfair if the trainees on the waiting list do not get a chance to appear in the recruitment.
