QS World University Rankings 2025: The country's leading technical institutes IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi have been included in the list of top 150 in the world popular QS World Ranking 2025. IIT Bombay has performed better than the 2024 ranking and has secured 118th position. Last year in 2023, IIT Bombay was ranked 149th and IIT Delhi was ranked 197th. IIT Delhi has also performed well from last year and got 150th rank. This year the ranking of IISc has also increased and it is ranked 211th, IIT Kharagpur is 222nd, IIT Madras is 227th, IIT Kanpur is 263rd.
Delhi University has also been included in the list. DU is ranked 328th. After this, IIT Roorkee is ranked 335th, IIT Guwahati 344th, Anna University 383rd. Apart from these, IIT Indore is ranked 477th, IIT BHU 531st and JNU 580th. The eligibility criteria for QS University Rankings include subject coverage, level coverage and teaching methods.
While preparing the ranking, many aspects have been given importance. Academic reputation has been given 30 percent weightage, employer reputation 15 percent, faculty-student ratio 10 percent, per faculty 20 percent, international faculty ratio, international student ratio, international research network, employment outcome and sustainability have been given 5-5 percent weightage.
Last year, IISc Bangalore was ranked 225th, IIT Kharagpur 271st, IIT Kanpur 278th and IIT Madras 285th.
MIT on top again
MIT is once again at the top (Rank 1) in the QS World Ranking. Imperial College London is in second place. Oxford University is in third and Harvard University is in fourth place. Cambridge University has lost its position this year and has come down to 5th place. Stanford University has also come down to 6th place.
