Senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday demanded an inquiry into the Chhattisgarh Teacher Eligibility Test (CG-TET) 2024, alleging irregularities at an examination centre in the state's Dhamtari district. Baghel also demanded that the candidates of the concerned examination centre be given a chance to re-appear in the exam. The CG TET-2024 exam conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board was held in the state on June 23.

Baghel claimed that irregularities have come to light in the conduct of CG-TET examination at Maharishi Vedvyas Government College, an examination centre located at Bhakhara in Dhamtari district. Baghel said that 400 candidates appeared for the examination in the second shift from 2 pm to 4:45 pm at this centre. He claimed that the nodal officer for the examination provided 420 question booklets to the centre but only 160 OMR sheets were provided for filling the answers.

He said that the in-charge of the examination centre informed the higher officials about this on phone, after which 240 OMR sheets were made available to the centre at around 3:15 pm, which were distributed among the candidates after a delay of about one and a half hours. The former Chief Minister said that despite the delay in providing OMR sheets, the candidates were not given extra time for the examination, as a result of which the candidates failed to solve all the questions.

He claimed that the in-charge of the examination centre had apprised the controller of the board about the situation and sought necessary guidance but no instructions were given to grant extra time.

Baghel said that it is a matter of investigation as to why sufficient OMR sheets were not provided to the examination centre according to the number of candidates. He demanded strict action against the culprits and giving the candidates a chance to appear in the examination again. Baghel wrote a letter to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai in this regard and demanded a decision in the interest of the candidates.

Congress also shared a letter written by the Principal of Maharishi Vedvyas Government College to the Controller of the Professional Examination Board in Nava Raipur, in which he has given information about the entire incident during the examination.

The principal wrote in the letter, due to the delay in providing OMR sheets, the candidates had demanded extra time for the exam, for which guidance was sought from the board over the phone. But instructions were received from there that extra time will not be given.
Candidates of the concerned exam center wrote a letter demanding bonus marks or cancellation of the entire CG TET 2024 exam.

The candidates wrote in the letter, the time for the exam in the second shift was from 2 pm to 4:45 pm, in which we were given the question paper at 2:30 pm while the OMR sheet was given one and a half hours late. At 4:45 pm, the OMR sheets were snatched from all the candidates and returned. The candidates asked for additional time but it was not given. This will affect the future of all the candidates.

The candidates requested to provide bonus marks to the candidates of the concerned examination centre or cancel the examination.
