Four lakh forty five thousand four hundred fifty four candidates have applied for the examination. 98 percent of the applications are from Hindi medium. About 2 percent are from English medium. This examination is held for admission in D.El.Ed, a two-year teacher education course required to become a teacher in elementary education.

For the successful and smooth conduct of the examination, District Coordinator, College Principal and District Nodal Officer, District Education Officer (Secondary) have been appointed for conduct of examination, control and monitoring at the district level.

The Education Secretary directed to keep OMR sheets, question papers and other confidential material safe in the Treasury and Sub Treasury, proper supervision for maintaining law and order during the examination, storage of confidential material received from the examination centers at the designated storage centers after the completion of the examination and ensuring foolproof security arrangements.

In a major change, this year the question papers of Pre-D.El.Ed exam will be printed separately in Hindi and English. Separate papers will be given in the medium selected by the candidate, i.e. English or Hindi. The choice of medium will be taken from the candidates at the time of application itself. This means that the question papers of Pre-D.El.Ed exam will be printed separately in Hindi and English. Earlier, every year, this exam used to have a single question paper in both Hindi and English languages. It used to have around 32 to 40 pages. Now, after the change, the paper will be of just 16 to 20 pages.
