The Ministry of Education issues a ranking list of all educational institutions in the country, which is called NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework). Do you know that the Ministry of Education visits every college and institute and inspects the resources available there, on the basis of which the college or institute is ranked. The higher the rank of a college in the NIRF list, the better it is. The level of all activities from studies to extra-curricular activities is very good there.
But do you know on what basis the Ministry of Education ranks these colleges or universities or institutes. What is the criteria for ranking? How do some colleges get good rankings, while some are ranked last? We will answer all these questions here. This year NIRF Ranking 2024 will release the ninth edition of ranking educational institutions.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has formed a core committee to rank various educational institutions. Five parameters have been decided to rank a university or college only after the recommendations of this committee.
1. A matrix set for ranking is prepared based on the criteria given by the Core Committee.
2. Each ranking parameter is given weightage
3. To give scores in sub-heads of each parameter, an effort is made to study and inspect the data related to it. So that the entire process remains transparent.
4. After this, the score of each parameter is calculated by adding the marks obtained by the sub-heads of each parameter. After this, all parameters are given scores according to the weightage given to them.
5. The institutes are then ranked based on the marks obtained by them.
Know which are the five parameters on the basis of which ranking is given-
1. Teaching, Learning and Resources (Marks 100, Weightage 0.30)
2. Research and Professional Practice (Marks 100, Weightage 0.30)
3. Outreach and Inclusiveness (Marks 100, Weightage 0.10)
4. Graduation Outcome (Marks 100, Weightage 0.20)
5. Perception (Marks 100, Weightage 0.10)
