The final round of the UPSC exam is the interview i.e. personality test. Many candidates appear in mock interviews before appearing in the final interview round. You must have often seen clips of these mock interviews on YouTube shorts. If you are a candidate for any competitive exam and after seeing these videos and shorts you are thinking that the final IAS interview round of UPSC is also like this, then let us tell you, there is a lot of difference between mock interview and final interview. Let us know about this in detail.
IAS officer Aditya Pandey told a news website, some people and institutions are making fun of the UPSC system, people say that absurd questions are asked in the final interview of UPSC, but it is not so. The final interview is quite different.
The interview panel consists of experts in their 50s and 60s. Their combined experience is five times more than our age. Except for a few coaching institutes, many other institutes fool the candidates. Do not blindly trust such videos, because the interview shown in these videos is quite different from the IAS final interview.
Let us tell you, after clearing the prelims and mains, candidates have to go through the final round of the UPSC exam – interview. The aim of the interview i.e. personality test is to evaluate the candidates' aptitude, ability to interact with people and interest in current affairs.
Do's and Don'ts for UPSC Exam and Interview.
Based on his experience, Aditya has shared some important things for interview preparation. Aditya says that the Detailed Application (DAF) is very important for the personality test i.e. interview round. After the Mains, candidates have to fill the DAF, which is mandatory. In which candidates have to fill information like hometown, date of birth, hobbies and interests. Candidates are advised not to fill the DAF carelessly, as the initial questions asked in the interview can be prepared from the DAF.
Aditya further said, UPSC interviews are quite subjective. The first question asked in the interview determines the flow of the interview and decides whether you will be able to mold it in your favor or not. If you have a grip on your DAF, then you have a better chance of getting through the interview.
