Those who searched found three, deep water penetrated,
I was very scared and sat on the side.

The meaning of this couplet of Saint Kabir is that the person who works hard gets success but the person who does not take a dip in the water due to fear of drowning and sits on the shore, does not achieve anything.

IAS officer K. Jayganesh has proved this couplet to be true. Have you ever heard that a person's courage did not waver even after failing 6 times? Has anyone passed the UPSC exam while fulfilling every responsibility? Can a waiter also become an IAS officer? The answer to all these questions is hidden in the success story of IAS K. Jayganesh.

K. Jayganesh is a resident of Vinnamangalam area of Tamil Nadu. He comes from a very poor family. He is the eldest of four siblings. He took admission in Polytechnic College after studying up to class 8 from his village. He passed Polytechnic with 91 percent marks. After this, he took admission in Mechanical Engineering at Thanthi Periyar Institute of Technology. After completing his studies, he got his first job in a company, where he got only Rs 2,500 as salary every month. K. Jayganesh also had the responsibility of his family, so he felt that he would have to find another government job, so that his household expenses could be met. Meanwhile, he also worked as a billing clerk in Satyameva Cinema Hall. During this time, he failed to pass the UPSC exam in his first attempt. After which he worked as a waiter in a restaurant, so that he could meet the financial needs of the house. He used to return from his job as a waiter at night and used to study regularly every day.

He gave six attempts for UPSC and failed in either the prelims or the mains exam every time but he never gave up. He kept preparing for UPSC with full dedication. Meanwhile, he was also selected in the Intelligence Bureau, but he turned down that job and chose to give the UPSC exam for the seventh time. This time his hard work paid off and he got 156th rank in the Civil Services Examination in 2008. It is said that strong determination definitely takes a person to his destination and poverty can never become an obstacle in anyone's success.
