This boy from the Bonda tribe has done something that no person from the Bonda tribe had ever imagined. 19-year-old Mangala Muduli has passed the NEET exam. He has taken admission in the MBBS course at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur town of Ganjam district, more than 400 kilometers away from his home. He has become the first person from the weaker tribal group to do so. Let us tell you that in this year's NEET exam, Mangala has secured 261st rank in his first attempt among the tribal group candidates.

Mangala Muduli comes from a farmer family. He received his schooling from Mudulipada SSD High School and further schooling from SSD Senior Secondary School located in Govindapalli. Mangala Muduli's elder brother had already dropped out of school and no one in his family thought of a better future for him.

When Mangala Muduli was studying science in higher secondary school, he was advised to take the medical entrance exam and was admitted to a coaching institute in Balasore, Odisha. Mangala Muduli wanted to become a doctor since childhood because there were no health facilities available around his village. He said, “I have seen people in my village struggling for health facilities. If someone falls sick, he has to walk miles to the primary health center. In such a situation, many people take help from sorcerers or exorcists. I want to change this.”

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has congratulated Mangala for her success. Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also praised and congratulated Mangala Muduli on the social media platform X.
