Khushi is a student of Civil Engineering.
Khushi shared that while studying in a government school, she had never thought that she would get a chance to study in an institute like IIT.
Various success stories often go viral on the internet. Recently, one such story has garnered attention. In 2023, Khushi enrolled in a local college after completing her Class 12 board examination from a government school in her village in Punjab's Bathinda. She passed with flying marks.
As per the report, Khushi's father repairs mobile phones at a small shop in the Bhucho Kalan village. She dreamed of studying engineering at a renowned institution after watching the popular web series Kota Factory.
Despite being a talented student from a young age, Khushi always buried her dream due to a lack of resources. One day, while going to college, a message popped up that she had cleared the Super 100 Program run by Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in Bathinda to choose 100 underprivileged students and provide them free coaching for the entrance exams to elite institutions. She is now a student of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Khushi shared that while studying in a government school, she had never thought that she would get a chance to study in an institute like IIT. After getting selected in the Super 100 Programme, she took a gap of 1 year. Then she moved to Delhi for 11 months of residential tutoring and passed the examination.
The expenses of living, food, and tuition fees- everything was free. Khushi will be the first engineer in her family to study at a prestigious institute like IIT Guwahati.
Khushi was not the only one to be selected for Guru Gobind Singh Refinery's Super 100 Programme. The refinery collaborated with the Center for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL) in Delhi to participate in the National Super 100 Program for the underprivileged through education.
After administering a competitive test to 600 children from 22 schools in the Bathinda district, the refinery picked eight students and sent them to CSRL in July 2023 for 11 months of residential coaching. Apart from Khushi, Harpreet Singh, another candidate from the Burj Gil village, was also among the eight students who were selected for the programme.
He stated that after completing his Class 12 at a government secondary school in Phool town, he aspired to pursue engineering. However, due to financial difficulties and a lack of direction, he enrolled at a private institution.
When he was chosen for the Super 100 Programme, it came as quite a surprise to him. He is now pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at the Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Jalandhar.
