The schools to be closed till September 21 include schools in various blocks – Athmagola, Barh, Bakhtiyarpur, Danapur, Fatuha, Maner, Mokama and Patna Sadar. Schools in all these places have been identified as danger zones. All schools have been ordered to close immediately due to rising water level.

The closure of the school was announced through a notice from the Bihar Education Department, Letter No. 677 dated August 24, 2024, stating that the precautionary step has been taken as the Ganga river has crossed the danger mark, posing a serious threat to life in the region.

The rising water level has already started flooding low-lying areas, raising concerns among residents. The Central Water Commission has projected a further rise in water levels, prompting the Water Resources Department to intensify its monitoring. Engineers and officials have been tasked with patrolling the embankments at night to ensure the safety of citizens and affected areas.

Students and parents are advised to get information related to holidays from their school administration once as every school administration can take different decisions. Students should contact the school to get more information.
