Deepinder Goyal is a resident of Punjab. Deepinder Goyal was born in Sri Muktsar Sahib city of Punjab. He comes from a very good family. Both his parents were teachers. He completed his schooling from DAV College, Chandigarh. In 2001, he passed the JEE Advanced examination and took admission in IIT Delhi to pursue B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing. After completing college, he started working in a company in Delhi.
How Zomato became a Foodiebay company-
While working at Bain & Company, Deepinder noticed that his co-workers often discussed food and ordered food. These constant discussions gave rise to the idea of a food delivery application in his mind. Deepinder decided to resign from his job and along with Pankaj Chaddha, he started a food delivery startup called Foodiebay and received $1 million in seed funding from Internet pioneer Sanjeev Bikhchandani of Info Edge India Limited. The company was rebranded to Zomato in 2010 as the startup attracted several global investors including Sequoia Capital and Jack Ma's Ant Group Co.
