IIT Guwahati students secured jobs with packages worth crores during the Institution’s pre-placement drive.
Campus placements in IITs started on December 1, 2022, with many renowned Indian and international companies participating. During this period, students are being offered packages worth crores by these companies. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has initiated pre-placement drives where students have started receiving job offers even before placements. Recently, IIT Guwahati organised a pre-placement drive, and according to reports, 214 students received job offers, slightly fewer than the previous year’s 218 students who secured job offers during the IIT Guwahati pre-placement drive in 2022.
IIT Guwahati’s Career Development Head mentioned that this year, five students received package offers exceeding Rs 1 crore, with the highest offer reaching Rs 1.10 crore. Tech behemoths like Microsoft, P&G, Oracle, JPMorgan Chase, American Express, and others have participated in offering lucrative packages. Moreover, the overall placement statistics across various IITs show a 10% increase in pre-placement offers this year.
In the ongoing campus placements at IIT Guwahati, a B.Tech student received an international job offer with an annual package of Rs 2.4 crore, making it the highest package offered by any student in the institution so far. In addition, two other B.Tech students were offered domestic packages of Rs 1.1 crore each during the annual campus placements. Similarly, it has also been reported that students at IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai, and IIT Kanpur have secured jobs with packages of up to Rs 4 crore.
The first phase of placement at IIT Guwahati is expected to continue until December 15. For the academic year 2022-23, a total of 1,269 students from various disciplines have registered for placements. The registered companies for the first phase of IIT Guwahati placements total 264, which will recruit a total of 470 profiles. In addition to this, 78 start-ups from five public sectors have registered for recruitment during the academic year 2022-23. Moreover, it’s worth noting that last year, Uber offered an annual package of Rs 2.16 crore to an IIT student, which was the highest at that time.
