SC/ST students who clear the UPSC Preliminary Examination will receive Rs 1 lakh.
In a significant development aimed at supporting aspiring civil servants from marginalised communities, Jharkhand government has introduced a new financial assistance scheme. Under this initiative, SC/ST students who clear the Civil Services Preliminary Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi, will receive Rs 1 lakh to aid in their preparation for the main examination and interview.
Announcing the scheme, an official of District Information and Public Relations Office (Gumla), Aleena Das, highlighted that the financial aid is part of the “Chief Minister Scheduled Tribe/Scheduled Caste Civil Service Promotion Scheme”. This one-time assistance aims to empower eligible candidates by providing crucial financial support at a pivotal stage of their career aspirations.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must have passed intermediate and graduate examinations from Jharkhand and belong to the Scheduled Tribe/Scheduled Caste category of the state.
- Family income should not exceed Rs 2.50 lakh per annum from all sources.
- Each candidate can avail of this scheme only once.
- Candidates who have already received coaching from the state government for civil services exams are ineligible.
Application Process:
Interested candidates can apply online at www.jharkhand.gov.in and www.jstcdc.org.in until the deadline of August 2, 2024, by 6 PM. Applications submitted after the specified date will not be considered. Along with the application form, applicants must attach self-attested photocopies of relevant documents including Jharkhand resident certificate, caste certificate, income certificate, educational qualification certificates, UPSC Preliminary Examination admit card and proof of passing the preliminary examination.
Submission Details:
Completed applications can be submitted in person at the Office of the Tribal Welfare Commissioner, Welfare Complex, 2nd Floor, Balihar Road, Morabadi, Ranchi-834008, Jharkhand. Alternatively, applications can be sent via Speed Post.
