7279 teachers will be recruited to teach children with special needs in various districts of Bihar. All of them will be special teachers, who will be skilled in teaching disabled children. These special teachers will be appointed on 5534 posts in primary (class one to five) and 1745 posts in middle schools (class six to eight).
They will also be appointed through Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The preparation of the education department for appointment to these posts is in the final stage. The department is trying to send the requisition for appointment to these posts to BPSC through the General Administration Department as soon as possible. After this the commission will issue an advertisement. Only candidates who have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test will be able to apply for appointment to these posts.
In this regard, the officials say that they will be appointed for a total of nine types of children with special needs. There will be separate specialist teachers for children who cannot see or have low vision. Similarly, these teachers will teach children with other special needs. At present, there is no facility to teach such children in schools. There is a special arrangement in the districts regarding this, where children are taught. But now this arrangement will be possible at the school level.
