Bihar School Examination Board (Bihar Board or BSEB) has postponed the Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) 2023-25 exam and Paper-2 of Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) scheduled to be held on June 18. Bihar Board has postponed the June 18 exam in view of Bakrid on June 17. Bihar Board DElEd was earlier scheduled to be held between June 18 and June 25. BSEB DElEd exams from June 19 will be held as per the earlier announced schedule.
The notice issued by the Bihar Board said, 'In view of Bakrid on 17 June 2024, the first day of D.El.Ed. examination i.e. the examination to be held on 18 June 2024 has been postponed by the board in the interest of the candidates. Information regarding the new date will be given later.'
It further said, “Paper-2 (Class 11-12) of STET 2024 (First) proposed to be held on June 18, 2024 has also been postponed.” The STET exam consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. STET Paper 1 is conducted for the recruitment of secondary school teachers, while STET Paper 2 is conducted for the recruitment of senior secondary teachers.
Three lakh 59 thousand 489 candidates have applied online to appear in the examination of various subjects of Paper-One and two lakh 37 thousand 442 candidates have applied online to appear in the examination of various subjects of Paper-Two by the Examination Committee. A total of five lakh 96 thousand 931 candidates have applied online to appear in the subjects of Paper-One and Paper-Two of STET, 2024 (First).
Paper-2 will have 100 questions from the specified subject and 50 marks will be from teaching skills and other skills. That is, there will be a total of 150 questions. The duration of the exam conducted through CBT mode will be two and a half hours.
Passing Marks
General: 50 per cent
Backward Classes – 45.5 percent
Extremely Backward Classes – 42.5 percent
SC, ST – 40%
Disabled – 40 percent
Women: 40 per cent
All the candidates who pass Paper-1 and Paper-2 will be issued STET pass certificate which will be valid for lifetime.
