The teenager, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, used to roam around on his bike with his friends instead of focusing on his studies and his mother used to scold him for that.
A class 9 student died by suicide on January 11 after his mother allegedly sold his Royal Enfield Bullet as he used to roam around his bike with his friends most of the time instead of focussing on his studies. Before shooting himself, the 17-year-old boy had Googled, “What happens to a person after death?,” reported NDTV.
A native of Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, he used to get scolded by his family for not focusing on his studies. Hence, his mother and elder brother had decided to sell his bike hoping he would focus on his studies. However, he got angry over this and took the huge step, the police told the news agency.
The boy used to live with his mother who is a nurse at Meerut Medical College and his elder brother who is preparing for competitive exams. Their father died last year. The incident took place when his elder brother had gone to pick up their mother from her workplace. When they returned they found the door was locked and a loud sound was heard. They barged in through the window and the boy was found lying in a pool of blood, the report added. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. The cops have recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol. They are currently probing how the boy got the weapon, it stated.
The family is yet to file any complaint.
The body of a third-year student of IIT Kharagpur was recovered on Sunday morning from the institute's Azad Hall. Identified as 21-year-old Shaon Mallick, his parents had come to meet him but his door was closed. Despite calling repeatedly, he did not open the door. Hence, after they forcefully opened the door, he was found hanging. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Investigation is underway.
