The student who was struggling for admission in IIT due to not depositing the fees on time, has got relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court of the country said in its order that we cannot let talent go waste and ordered IIT Dhanbad to admit Dalit student Atul. Atul, a resident of Titaura village of Khatauli police station area, had counseling to take admission in IIT after passing JEE Advanced examination, in which he got number in Electrical in Dhanbad. College fees had to be deposited by 5 pm on 24th June. When I told the people of the village about my compulsion due to lack of money at home, they helped me but the server was shut down even before the fees could be deposited.
It is said that the IIT website was closed just four minutes and four seconds ago. After not getting admission in the college, the student first approached the Jharkhand Court and then reached the Supreme Court.
The student's lawyer said that his father earns Rs 450 per day. His father is a labourer. He works as a laborer in a garment factory in Meerut. He said, “Arranging Rs 17,500 is a big thing. He (father) has collected money from the villagers.”
During the hearing in the court, Chief Justice of India D.Y. A bench headed by Chandrachud said, “We cannot allow such a young talented boy to go. He went to Jharkhand Legal Services Authority. He then went to the legal services of Chennai and was then sent to the High Court. A Dalit boy is being sent from one place to another.”
Chief Justice Chandrachud said, “He is a brilliant student. The only thing that stopped him was Rs 17,000.” He also said, “No child should be abandoned just because he does not have the fees of Rs 17,000.
