Delhi High Court (HC) today i.e. on Monday started hearing on the petition for postponement of ICAI CA May Intermediate, Final Exam 2024. The High Court has rejected the petition to postpone the examination.
Let us tell you, during the hearing, questions and answers were exchanged between the bench and the lawyer in the court. Where the bench asked, “Do you want the CA exams to be postponed? Is there any law in the country which says that no exam can be conducted during the Lok Sabha elections?
According to the information received, the bench had also reprimanded and said, “If the candidates are not able to study due to the general elections going to be held in India, then there is no justification for them to become Chartered Accountants (CA).”
The lawyer had said, “Due to the General Elections, CA candidates will face many problems related to transportation in the month of May and this is one of the most difficult examinations.

Soon after the announcement of the schedule of 18th Lok Sabha elections, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had announced the revised schedule for the Chartered Accountancy Examination (Intermediate, Final). On the evening of March 19, the new dates for the CA exam were announced on the official website www.icai.org. Although there was a change in the exam dates, the month remained the same as before.
After which the candidates demanded to postpone the ICAI CA Intermediate and Final examinations till June, amidst the 18th Lok Sabha general elections. Since last month, students, CA experts and various student organizations have been urging the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to reconsider the schedule of CA intermediate and final examinations from May to June. Candidates are dissatisfied with the schedule that changed the dates of CA exam keeping the Lok Sabha elections in mind.
Citing various problems faced by the candidates during the elections, the institute is postponing the CA intermediate and final examinations till June.
Coming in support of the CA exam aspirants, came lawyer Alakh Srivastava, who posted on his official A petition has been filed demanding postponement of the CA exams from May to June 2024.

As per the official notice, the Intermediate Course Exam Group I exam will be conducted on May 3, 5 and 9, 2024. Group II exam will be conducted on May 11, 15 and 17, 2024. Group I final examination will be held on May 2, 4 and 8, 2024 and Group II final examination will be held on May 10, 14 and 16, 2024. Whereas International Taxation-Assessment Test (INTT-AT) will be conducted on 14 and 16 May 2024. However, earlier also the examination was to be conducted in the month of May and in the new schedule released, the examination is going to be conducted in the month of May only.
