A new initiative has been taken to promote research and patents in Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, which is among the top 100 universities of NIRF. Now the university will give an incentive of Rs 2 lakh for research publication in journals like Nature or Science Academic Journal of American Association or Harvard Business Review. There is a plan to place it in the Vidya Parishad, Finance Committee and Management Board. It will get a concrete shape after getting approval from all three committees. Research publication and patent play an important role in making a place in NIRF and QS World Ranking. Keeping this in mind, the Vice Chancellor had constituted a five-member committee under the chairmanship of Dean Student Affairs Prof. VK Giri about one and a half months ago. The committee included Prof. Vihval L Gole, Prof. BK Pandey, Prof. Jeetu Singh and Deputy Registrar Devendra Goswami. The committee had to determine how much incentive can be given for quality research publication for encouragement. After several rounds of meetings, the committee has prepared its report and submitted it to the university administration.

According to the recommendations of the committee, the world's most prestigious journals like Nature, Science Academic Journal of American Association and Harvard Business Review have been placed in Category 1. Outstanding Researcher Award will be given on publication in this. Under this, an incentive of Rs 2 lakh will be given.

Incentive will be given on the basis of impact factor

Premier Researcher Award will be given if the impact factor on publication in other journals is more than 5. Under this, an amount of Rs 50 thousand will be given. If the impact factor is more than 2 but less than 5, an incentive of Rs 20 thousand will be given under the Commendable Researcher Award.

A plan has been made to give incentives to researchers and teachers for quality research publications. The committee constituted for this has submitted its report. Incentives on USA, UK patents too It has been recommended to give incentives of Rs 50,000 on USA and UK granted patents. Apart from this, an incentive of Rs 25,000 will be given on patents received from other reputed countries or India.

There is also an incentive on government projects. There is a plan to give an incentive of Rs 50,000 for bringing a project of more than Rs 1 crore from government agencies. An incentive of Rs 10,000 will be given for projects ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

This would be qualifying research

Along with the publishing teachers and researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students will also benefit from this scheme. This will also be applicable to contractual and guest teachers.
