Let us tell you, the name of 31-year-old Pragati Rani, mother of a three-year-old child, who has secured 355th rank, is included in the final list of UPSC CSE result released on April 16. Let us know about her.

Pragati Rani is a radiologist by profession. She started preparing for the civil service examination when her son Rajvardhan Verma was just six months old. While giving an interview to a news website, Rani said that her journey was not easy. At the time she started preparing, her son was very young and her husband Dr. Atul Verma had gone out for his MD studies.

She said, “I used to prepare for civil services from my home, I did not get much time for studies. I did not want to ignore my child. Sometimes he would go to his grandmother. At that time I used to solve some questions or cover some topics, it was not easy for me at that time”

I used to study for about three or four hours every day when my son would go to sleep around 9.30 pm. This was the most focused time of the day for me. So I used to plan every day which chapters I had to cover by the time my son went to sleep.

Let us tell you, despite facing all the troubles and difficulties, Rani has cleared three prestigious exams. She has cleared UPSC twice, and Haryana Civil Services exam once, in which she secured second position.

Let us tell you, Rani got 740th rank in UPSC CSE 2022-23. After which she could have got DANICS cadre to be posted for civil services in Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, but she chose to join Haryana Civil Services and appeared for Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) exam in the year 2023, in which she secured second position.

After clearing the HPSC, her training ended and Rani joined the Ambala Divisional Commissioner as Officer on Special Duty in November 2023. However, during that time she continued her studies to improve her score in the UPSC exam.

He said, this time the preparation was more difficult because his son was older. So the son knew that his mother was studying in the other room. So my child used to come to the room again and again and insisted on playing with me. It was very difficult for me to refuse my son.

However, Rani's hard work paid off and she secured 355th rank in the UPSC CSE exam. Let us tell you, Rani comes from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, so she is hoping to get an IAS post this time.

Advising UPSC candidates to keep a Plan B ready, Rani said that the exam is “unpredictable”. This exam requires two years of continuous study. One year for exam preparation and the second year for the three stages of the exam. Therefore, candidates should also take care of their health during this time. Do not consider this exam as life, but give time to life as well.
