The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), which got the status of deemed university this year itself, will offer postgraduate degree courses from the session 2024-25. Till now IIMC offered only PG Diploma courses in fields related to Journalism and Mass Communication. Dr. Nimish Rustagi, Additional Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, said that two Master of Arts courses, Media Business Studies and Strategic Communication, can be started in August.
According to officials, these two MA courses will be offered at the New Delhi campus of IIMC with 40 seats each. Let us tell you that IMC is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which has five regional centres. Apart from 40 seats in each of the two courses, there will also be a special quota on offer for experienced professionals and defense forces, while the course fee will be fixed at around Rs 2.4 lakh for a year, officials said.
He said that the Masters Program in Media Business Studies (MA-MBS) aims to meet the demand for professional managers in the media industry. Officials said that media organizations have become complex over the years and amid rapid growth, there is a need for professionals who can understand the rapid technological developments taking place in the industry.
On the other hand, the MA course in Strategic Communication aims to prepare professionals who assist in the fulfillment of strategic objectives of nations and organizations. The objective of this course is to prepare trained StratCom professionals who can work in governments, public and private sectors, think tanks. And can serve global companies in the domain.
