246 seats have been reserved for girls in IIT Kanpur. To balance the gender ratio in engineering, additional seats have been reserved for girls in IIT on the instructions of the Ministry of Education. 20 percent seats have been reserved for girls under supernumerary in IIT Kanpur. In this, girls will be able to get admission even if the reserved seats are full. Supernumerary seats are there in every course. A total of 246 seats have been reserved under supernumerary in 14 courses run in the institute. In this, the highest number of 39 seats are in Electrical Engineering and the second highest number of 30 seats are in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
There are also 26 supernumerary seats in Computer Science. A total of 1210 seats will be filled in the institute, out of which 964 seats are general and 246 seats are supernumerary. JEE counseling is going on for admission in the institute. Under this, the first phase of seat allocation will be done on June 20.
Out of 100 toppers of JEE Advanced, 10 will get lottery, will do BTech from IIT for free, will get 3 lakh rupees every year
