First of all, I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day. Today we are here to celebrate the 78th Independence Day of the country. The whole country is immersed in the celebration of the anniversary of independence. This year the Government of India is celebrating Independence Day under the theme 'Developed India'. Through this theme, the Government of India is focusing on making the country a developed nation by 2047.
Friends, the auspicious day of 15th August holds the most importance in the political history of India. 15th August is the day when the country was freed from the shackles of 200 years of slavery of the British. A lot of atrocities were committed on the people of the country during the British rule. Hundreds of freedom fighters sacrificed their lives to free the people of the country from the atrocities of the British rule. In such a situation, this day is also to remember the sacrifice of those great revolutionaries and freedom fighters who put everything at stake to liberate the country. Many revolutionaries and freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Mangal Pandey, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak played an important role in liberating the country. This day is to salute and pay tribute to all these revolutionaries and freedom fighters.
