Today we all have gathered here to celebrate Independence Day. 15th August is the most important day in the history of India and in the life of every Indian citizen. This is the day when India got freedom from 200 years of British rule. On 15th August 1947, our country broke the shackles of slavery and became free from the clutches of British rule. After this, this day got marked in the golden history of India. Every Indian has been celebrating this special day of 15th August as Independence Day with great pomp and enthusiasm. This year India has completed 77 years of independence. The country is celebrating its 78th Independence Day.
This is a historic day and a symbol of patriotism, dedication and unity among our countrymen. Independence Day is celebrated as a national holiday in the country. On this day, tribute is paid to those great freedom fighters of India, due to whose sacrifice and self-denial, India got freedom from the British rule. Today is the day to salute their bravery, valor and courage. These freedom fighters of the country fought a long struggle to get independence. They devoted their entire life, entire youth to get freedom. Many revolutionaries and freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Mangal Pandey, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lala Lajpat Rai, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak played an important role in liberating the country.
