Wherever you look in the country, papers are being leaked, somewhere papers are being cancelled and somewhere exams are being postponed. In such a situation, the concern of all those universities has increased, in which admission was done through these entrance exams. The country's largest and most prestigious university JNU is thinking of conducting its own entrance exam for admission to PhD in the university. The university is having to think like this after the postponement of the UGC NET exam. The UGC NET exam was postponed due to questions being raised on its transparency.
JNU Teachers Association (JNUTA) informed that JNU is considering conducting its own entrance exam. It was also informed that JNU Vice Chancellor Shantishree D. Pandit in a meeting held on July 3 asked to consider opening the possibility of restarting JNU's old system of conducting PhD entrance exam. JNUTA said that this should be seen as a positive response after the cancellation of UGC NET exam. A senior official of the university has said that all these possibilities are being considered and work is also going on.
Let us tell you that for many years NTA was conducting the entrance exam for admission in JNU. This year JNU had decided to change the admission process in its Doctor of Philosophy program. Earlier this year, JNU had said that in line with the new education policy, it will give admission on the basis of NET exam score. But the UGC NET exam to be held on 19 June was cancelled.
In such a situation, JNU is now considering bringing back its old entrance examination process. JNU Teachers Association is looking at this decision as a positive response after the cancellation of UGC NET.
