The National Medical Commission has made a change in its circular, in which foreign medical graduates have been asked to undergo 12 months of internship. The commission has now reduced the internship time to one year. But there are some conditions for this. In the notice, the NMC said that foreign students who have taken compensatory classes in physical mode and have passed the examination similar to MBBS in India are all eligible for one year internship. There is no one-year internship for those taking online classes. Let us tell you that the National Medical Commission has also made it clear that apart from this, all other conditions will remain the same as stated in the public notice issued on 7 December 2023.

In the earlier circular which was issued on June 7, NMC has clarified in the notice that in continuation of the public notice dated June 07, 2024, it is clarified that all the students who have taken compensatory classes physically in lieu of online classes and have subsequently passed the examination equivalent to MBBS in India.

They will be eligible for 1 year internship as directed in CRMI Regulations 2021. The commission further said that all other conditions will remain the same. This rule will also apply to students who have passed the FMG examination equivalent to MBBS in India from any other country. Let us tell you that MBBS internship is a 12-month training phase which is included as a mandatory part of 5.5 years of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
