IGNOU celebrated 75th Republic Day at Maidan Garhi campus. University Vice-Chancellor Professor Nageswara Rao hoisted the national flag on the campus. On this occasion he addressed the students and employees of the regional centres. He said that IGNOU has taken an important step towards translating programs into regional languages. In line with the National Education Policy, 2020, IGNOU not only promotes Indian languages, arts and culture, but also offers stand-alone courses in Kashmiri, Nepali and Meitei Lon (Manipuri).

Admission process started in 19 courses under the new education policy in IGNOU.
IGNOU has started four-year undergraduate degree programs in 19 courses from the academic session January 2024. Now students will be able to take admission under the National Education Policy. Under this new format, certificate will be available after one year, diploma after two years, degree after three years and honors degree after four years. IGNOU has started admission in this format for the first time.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Nageshwar Rao says that this process is completely compatible with the new education policy. There is a lot of flexibility for students in this. They can study for one year, two years and three years and obtain the respective certificate. From 2020, distance education has been considered equivalent to regular education. We have also started BA course in three subjects. Apart from this, Honors courses have also been started in Science, Journalism and other subjects. Examinations of two semesters are also being conducted simultaneously. Admission is also starting in four subjects of Masters (Science). In the coming time, more courses can be started as per the needs of the students.
