Candidates are protesting against the exam city allotted for NEET PG exam. Although many candidates have been allotted new exam city, they are dissatisfied with that too. Amidst this displeasure of the candidates, the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is going to release the admit card for NEET PG exam on August 8. The exam will be held on Sunday 11 August. NBE chief Abhijat Sheth has told that after the students expressed their displeasure over the exam city allotment, we decided to add more exam centers. After this some students may receive revised city slips. This time we have removed private exam centers to ensure safety and as a result some students may have to travel a little far to their exam center. Not all students can have an exam center very close to home because even if we allot them a center in the same state, students may have to travel 100-150 km. We have tried our best to reduce their distance.

NEET PG admit cards are going to be released in a day or two. Applicants are demanding that the exam city should be revised again. While many have been allotted exam cities as per their communication address, some others have been allotted one of the cities selected by them during the application process.

A candidate – who had filled the order of Sikar, Jaipur, Delhi and Gwalior – was first allotted Gwalior on July 31. However, on Sunday, the NBE revised the city centre and sent him a mail stating that his NEET PG exam would be held in Jaipur. By then, the candidate had already booked his tickets for Gwalior.

The aspirant, who works at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, New Delhi, said, “This hassle of exam centre is causing mental stress on me. Earlier, the NEET PG exam was postponed a day before. I was ready in Agra to take the exam the next day. It has become difficult for me to take leave from work. The money involved in booking tickets and staying for one night also becomes a burden. I now stay in Delhi. I did not choose any option as I waited for NBE to allot me any centre. The problem of centre transfer a few days before the exam is mentally stressful. Travelling for two days for the exam is difficult.”

Many candidates on social media are also debating the issue of conducting NEET PG 2024 in two shifts. The Federation of All India Medical Association and the Medical Association Board including MPs have written to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education to intervene and consider conducting the exam in a single shift at nearby exam centres.
