NEET UG 2024: A month after starting the application process by issuing the notification of NEET UG 2024, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has once again changed the tie breaking policy of the medical entrance examination. Now, in case of tie breaking, the lottery will not be drawn from the computer. Taking a U-turn, NTA has now changed the tie breaking policy of NEET to 2023 like last year. Now like before, the ratio of wrong answers to correct answers will be seen in all and a single subject. Let us tell you that if two or more students get the same marks in the examination, who will be placed higher in merit is decided by the tie breaking policy.
In the notification of NEET 2024 this year, the National Testing Agency had included the rule of computer lottery in the tie baking criteria. The rule of ratio of wrong answers to correct answers was removed. Before 2023 till the year 2022, the tie was decided on the basis of age and NEET UG application number. But in 2023, NTA after criticism removed the irrational rule of giving better rank on the basis of higher age and application number. NTA has removed the last 2 rules out of total 9 tie breaking rules for the year 2022 and issued only 7 rules for the year 2023. Now NTA has changed the notification of NEET 2024 and again adopted the policy of 2023.
These were the rules of tie breaking in NEET notification 2024
1. The student who has higher marks or percentile in Biology, Botany and Zoology will be placed higher in rank.
2. The student who will have high marks or percentile in Chemistry
3. The student who will have high marks or percentile in Physics
4. If the above three conditions are the same for a student, then the merit or rank will be determined through computer lottery system.

The above rules of NEET's tie breaking policy have now been changed to –
If students get equal marks then their Biology marks will be considered first to decide their rank. The one who gets more marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be placed higher in the rank. If no decision can be taken then the marks of Chemistry and then Physics will be compared.

2- If the rank is not decided by the Biology factor, then the Chemistry marks will be considered. The one who gets more marks in Chemistry will be placed higher in the rank.
3- After this the marks of Physics will be seen. The one who gets more marks in Physics will be placed higher in rank.
4- The one who has given less wrong answers than correct answers will be placed higher.
5- After this, the candidate whose ratio of attempted wrong answers to correct answers in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be less, will be placed higher.
6- After this, the candidate whose ratio of attempted wrong answers to correct answers in Chemistry will be less will be placed higher.
7- The candidate whose percentage of wrong attempts in Physics will be less.
