NEET UG counselling 2024 deferred until further notice, uncertainties among medical aspirants continue | Competitive Exams

The development comes days after Supreme Court declined to stay NEET-UG 2024 counselling. A notice was also issued to the NTA.

The NEET UG counselling process 2024, that was scheduled to begin from July 6, has been deferred till further notice, causing further uncertainties among aspirants. This was informed by the ANI on X (formerly Twitter) quoting official sources.

The latest development comes days after the Supreme Court declined to stay NEET-UG 2024 counselling amid a massive row over the alleged irregularities in the conduct of the examination. In this regard, the apex court had also issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA).

However, without any counselling schedule shared by the M.C.C. so far, the process has been delayed further.

About NEET UG counselling process:

As per the NTA, the counselling for successful candidates for undergraduate medical / dental courses are done by the MCC/DGHS for seats under 15% All India Quota and 100% including 85% state quota seats of Central Institutions/Universities and Deemed Universities.

In the revised NEET UG information bulletin, the NTA said, “MCC only does the registration for AFMC and forwards the data of registered candidates to AFMC Authorities for the admission process. DU/BHU and other Universities may use the score for any other relevant courses being offered by them.”

NEET PG exam dates released:

Meanwhile, the latest development comes a day after the new exam dates for NEET PG 2024 had been announced. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences or NBEMS informed on Friday that it will be conducting the NEET PG 2024 on August 11. In a notice, the board informed that examinations will be conducted in two shifts.

The NEET PG was previously scheduled for June 23, however the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) postponed it. The exam was postponed as a precautionary measure amid the uproar over the NEET UG examination over irregularities in the conduct of the examination.
