The state medical education department has applied to the National Medical Commission (NMC), the body that oversees medical education in the country, for inspection of the campuses of new medical colleges. Now NMC will take stock of the facilities required for further medical studies in these medical colleges and approve them. Once medical colleges get permission, 1,400 more MBBS seats will be added to the approximately 8,000 seats available in the state.
