The petitions related to the medical entrance exam NEET UG 2024 were heard again in the Supreme Court. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud heard the case. For the time being, the hearing of the case has been postponed till tomorrow. While giving its verdict on a petition, the bench has said that in the NEET-UG 24 exam, the candidates had to choose one correct option for a question, but it was not so, two correct options were suggested for this. The opinion of experts from IIT Delhi should be taken on this. We request the Director of IIT Delhi to form a committee of three experts, which should send its opinion to the Registrar by 12 noon.

The counsel for the petitioner gave these arguments
The petitioner's lawyer also argued on this. He said that because of this unclear question, 44 students got grace marks and they got All India Rank 1. He said that the same thing happened in the Kanpur University vs Sameer Gupta case and it was accepted in it that if a question is not clear, then it should be removed.
The petitioner's lawyer said that NTA says that if there are two correct options, tick any one. But, I cannot decide at the time of examination that there are two correct answers. I cannot assume that there are two correct answers and marks will be given for both.

CJI took NTA to task
On this, the CJI said that this is a strong argument. You have instructed to prepare the answer key according to the latest NCERT book. In such a situation, option 4 is correct. Then full marks cannot be given to those who answered option 2. They should have just said that one answer is correct. The CJI also criticized the NTA and said that why did the NTA finally decide to give marks on both options? The Solicitor General said that 4,20,774 candidates chose option 2 because it was correct according to the old NCERT. At the same time, 9,28,379 candidates chose option 4. This was correct according to the new NCERT. The CJI said that it is a matter of concern that none of the students who ticked option 2 are here. The 44 students who got 720 marks will come down to 715.
If option 2 is considered wrong then 4.20 lakh students will lose 4 marks and will also get one negative mark.
