The merit was shaken when the correct option of a controversial question of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG 2024) was given four instead of two. Some moved ahead in the merit while others came down. The correct option got four marks. If the option was left out, four marks were lost and if the option was wrong, five marks were reduced. This changed the merit. Some took a long leap while others suffered a loss. Students expressed their displeasure over this.
The NEET result was first declared on June 4 and then on June 30. There was confusion for a long time about the re-examination. Some students were re-examined and a revised result was declared. After this, there was a dispute over the answer to a question whether the second option was correct or the fourth. It was decided at the Supreme Court level which option was correct. After this, the revised merit changed the results.
