The committee formed by the central government to improve the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts NEET, JEE Main and CUET has received more than 37000 suggestions in this regard. About 30 thousand suggestions have come from students and candidates of various other competitive examinations. It is being told that the committee can also meet many of the students who have sent suggestions. Let us tell you that after the ongoing uproar in the NEET and UGC NET paper leak case, the committee appointed by the central government had sought suggestions from students and parents for improvement and/or restructuring of NTA. The government had constituted this high level committee to bring transparency in the examinations conducted by NTA. The objective of this committee is to give suggestions for transparent and malpractice-free conduct of examinations conducted by NTA. The last date for giving suggestions was 7 July.

According to the Times of India report, the committee is deliberating on various entrance exams according to their purpose. Like NEET and JEE Main are for admission in professional courses while CUET is for undergraduate courses. And UGC NET is for eligibility of Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship and PhD entrance exam. The committee has also discussed with IIT Kanpur expert Amay Karkare. The first meeting of the committee was held on 24 July. It can submit its report on 24 August.

TOI has quoted sources as saying that the committee is considering all the modes and aspects of conducting the exam. The purpose of the exam and its number are also being looked into. The process of conducting the NTA exam is being thoroughly checked from start to finish. Things like setting of question paper, its pattern, its movement are being checked.

The bench said that the new petitions of NTA will also be heard together with the already pending petition on July 18.
