An illiterate person who scored 99.7 percent marks in the 10th board examination has come under investigation. 23-year-old Prabhu Lakshmikant Lokare recently got the job of a peon in the local court of Koppal district of Karnataka on the basis of his brilliant marks. Lokare's name appeared in the final merit list of the peon recruitment examination released on 22 April 2024. After getting the job of a peon, he was posted in the District and Sessions Court in Yadgir. Earlier, Lokare used to work as a sweeper in Koppal Court. Lokare's achievement raised suspicion in the mind of the judge of the court because he does not even know how to read and write in Kannada language. The judge knew this. Investigation into the matter has started after the judge's personal complaint. The court has ordered verification of Prabhu's educational documents.

An FIR was filed against Prabhu on April 26. According to it, Prabhu appeared for the 10th standard examination directly after 7th standard and scored 623 out of 625 marks. But despite his excellent performance, he cannot read or write in Kannada, English or Hindi, which raises serious doubts about his qualification.

The judge has also demanded an investigation into whether other candidates have also obtained government jobs by committing similar alleged fraud. The judge has also asked the police to check Lokare's handwriting with his 10th class exam answer sheets. The judge said that fake academic achievements harm promising students.

In his defence, Lokare claimed that he had appeared in the Class 10th examination in 2017-18 as a private candidate. The exam was conducted by the Delhi Board of Education. He claimed that the exam was held at an institute in Bagalakote district of Karnataka.
