The admission process in IIT is over. IIT-Madras has released the final report of JEE-Advanced-2024. In this, once again Rajasthan has emerged as the state giving the highest number of admissions in IIT. Delhi zone remained at the forefront, Guwahati zone lagged behind in enrollment. In the year 2024, the number of students who got success from Guwahati zone was 2458. Only 786 students from Guwahati zone were selected in IIT. In 2022, 2743 students qualified from Guwahati zone, while 1050 students were enrolled. The states coming under IIT Guwahati zone are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, Singapore. In such a situation, Bihar is the only state from which the maximum number of students have been selected in IIT. According to the report, all the states of the country were divided into 7 IIT zones.
A total of 17 thousand 965 students were allotted seats in all these zones. Out of these, IIT Delhi zone got the highest number of admissions at 4152. Rajasthan is the biggest state in Delhi zone. Apart from this, Delhi, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh are also included in this zone.

This year, out of total 17395 students selected in IITs, highest number of students are from Delhi zone with 4152, second highest is Madras zone with 4072, third highest is Bombay zone with 3712, fourth highest is IIT Roorkee zone with 1700, fifth is Kanpur with 1669, sixth is Bhubaneshwar zone with 1604, lowest is at seventh highest with 786 students selected from Guwahati zone.
Delhi Zone Sirmour due to quota
According to the report, a total of 2 lakh 50, 284 students qualified JEE-Advanced this year. Out of these, 1 lakh 80 thousand 200 students appeared in the exam, out of which 48,284 were declared eligible for counselling. These students filled 32 lakh 73 thousand 159 options. The highest number of options were filled for Computer Science of IIT Bombay at 25481 and the lowest number of options were filled for BS Economics with MBA branch of IIT Patna at 3978.
3495 girl students will become IITians
This year 3945 girl students took admission in IIT. Out of total 17695 seats, 17605 seats were allotted to Indians, 88 seats to OCI and PIO and only 2 seats to foreign nationalities.
Out of the total seats allotted in IIT, 6982 are from General category, 1926 from General EWS, 4775 from OBC, 2654 from SC, 1338 from ST category will become IITians.
Anand Jaiswal, Director and Physics teacher of Engineering Exam Specialist Mentors Eduserve, said that most of the students from Bihar appear for the exam from Delhi Zone. Apart from this, 70 to 75 percent of the students who result in Guwahati Zone are from Bihar. Due to not getting a better trade in IIT, people get admission in NIT on the basis of JEE rank.
