NBEMS revised stipend Guidelines: National Board of Examination in Medical Science (NBEMS) has released revised guidelines regarding the stipend of medical trainees. According to the official guidelines, it is mandatory for the NBEMS trainees to be given stipend by a recognized hospital / medical institute.
First year medical trainees studying in post MBBS DNB (broad specialty) courses are entitled to a stipend of Rs 35,000. Second year medical trainees are entitled to a stipend of Rs 37,000. Medical trainees studying in the third year will get a stipend of Rs 39,000. First year medical trainees studying in post diploma DNB (broad specialty) courses are entitled to a stipend of Rs 37,000. Second year medical trainees will get a stipend of Rs 39,000.
Candidates studying in two-year Diploma (Post MBBS- Broad Specialty) courses will have to pay Rs 35,000 for the first year and Rs 37,000 for the second year trainees. Candidates studying in Doctor NB (Super Specialist) courses will get a stipend of Rs 41,000 in the first year, Rs 43,000 in the second year and Rs 45,000 in the third year. For FNB courses, the stipend for the first year is Rs 41,000 and for the second year it is Rs 43,000.

The guidelines also emphasise that hospitals should revise the stipend in line with the changes implemented by the state and central government authorities from time to time. Hospitals may pay a higher stipend to trainee candidates than the minimum stipend prescribed by NBEMS and in return, the stipend may be reduced if the candidate is provided with a hostel (accommodation).
