The Office of the Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate of Jamtara is carrying out recruitment for this post. This office is handling the recruitment with the Home, Jail and Disaster Management Department of Jharkhand.

Of the 343 posts for Rural Chowkidar in Jamtara district, 139 vacancies for the UR (unreserved category) candidates and 170 vacancies for Scheduled Tribe category candidates.

Applications for these vacancies will be submitted in the offline mode. The filled application form along with an educational certificate, permanent residence, caste and work experience certificate has to be sealed in an envelope. It will then be presented to the Deputy Commissioner's office, Collectorate, Jamtara.

3. Educational Qualification

Besides qualifying for the class 10 exams, it is also important for the applicants to know local customs, language and environment.

4. Age limit

The minimum age of candidates for the Rural Chowkidar post should be 18 years. For the candidates from the unreserved category, the maximum age is 35 years. Meanwhile, 40 years is the age limit for the Scheduled Tribe category candidates.

5.Other selection parameters

Candidates should also be permanent natives of the concerned beat area. They should also know how to ride a bicycle. Appointments for the post of Chowkidar will be done at the district level.

7.Selection Process

Selection for these posts will be done after a written and physical test. The written examination will be of 50 marks in which the candidates would have to attempt certain questions. These will be related to general knowledge, local language, Hindi, English, Sanskrit, and tribal language. The candidates must get at least 30 per cent marks to pass the written exam.

8. Physical Exam

Height-For the candidates of the General Category, the height should be at least 160 cm and the height of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates should be 155 cm. The minimum height for female candidates is 148 cm.

Physical Test – All candidates (both men and women) are required to run for 1 mile. Covering this distance in 5 minutes or less will earn them 20 points. Running this distance in more than 5 and up to 6 minutes will earn them 10 points.
