The path to success in life is difficult, it becomes even more difficult when a person is physically handicapped. But the passion to achieve success is within everyone. Seeing this spirit of disabled people, the Central Government and many state governments provide scholarships to students. So that they can easily face the financial problems that come in their life and the financial situation does not become a hindrance in their success. The registration process for about 23 scholarships is going on on the National Scholarship Portal. Some of which are scholarships specifically for students with disabilities. This scholarship is given by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. To apply, the candidate will have to visit the official website scholarships.gov.in.

These scholarships are-

1. Scholarship for Top Class Education (Graduate and Post Graduate Degree/Diploma)

2. Pre-Matric Scholarship (Class 9 and 10)

3. Post-Matric Scholarship (Class 11 to Post Graduate Degree/Diploma)

Eligibility for scholarship-

1. Student should be an Indian citizen.

2. The student should have 40 percent or more disability as per the “Disabled Persons Rights Act 2016”.

3. Candidate must have valid disability certificate from a recognized authority and Aadhaar based biometric authentication.

4. Candidate must have UDID/UDID registration.

5. Not more than two disabled children of the same parent will be entitled to receive the benefits of the scheme. If the second child is a twin, the scholarship under the schemes will be admissible to the twin.

6. Scholarship will be available to students studying in any class only for one year. If a student has to repeat a class, he/she will not get scholarship for that class for the second (or subsequent) year as stated by NSP.

7. Scholarship students cannot avail any other scholarship/scholarship under this scheme. In other words, no scholarship will be awarded to students under this scheme from the date they accept any other scholarship/scholarship.

Scholarship for Top Class Education (Graduate and Post Graduate Degree/Diploma)

The last date to apply for this scholarship is 31 October 2024. This scholarship is for students pursuing graduate and post graduate degree/diploma. This scholarship provides Rs 1.90 lakh (as per total fees) every year to the students in the form of admission and tuition fees, apart from other expenses.

Pre-Matric Scholarship (Class 9 & 10)

The last date to apply is 31 October 2024. PwBD category candidates studying in class 9 and 10 in any government or government recognized school can apply.

Under this scholarship, Rs 4,000 per year is provided to visually impaired students or those with intellectual disability. Additionally, Rs 2000 per year is provided to students with all other types of disabilities.

Post-Matric Scholarship (Class 11 to Post Graduate)

The last date to apply is 31 October 2024. This scholarship provides students Rs 1.40 lakh (as per total fees) every year in the form of admission and tuition fees, apart from other expenses.
