IIIT Lucknow: A strong team will be prepared for data analysis of disaster management in the state. For this, MSc in Data Science with Specialization in Climate Data Analytics course has been started in the Indian Institute of Information Technology in collaboration with the Office of the Relief Commissioner. Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra inaugurated it.
Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra also inspected the Climate Resilient Observatory (CRO). He said that through this observatory, the data related to climate being received in the state can be studied and predicted. This will be helpful in disaster management by issuing alerts. He said that the first such Climate Resilience Observatory has been created in the country. This course has been started for the first time in the country. For this, graduate students in Maths, Statistics, Computer Science will be taken.
More reliable forecast than IMD
Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar said that for the first time in the state, Climate Resilient Observatory (CRO) has been established in Lucknow. Through this, all types of weather related alerts will be received. This will give a new direction to the disaster management system of the state government. By giving alert before disaster, loss can be minimized. Told that CRO is getting a large amount of data including temperature, humidity, rainfall from all the blocks of UP. Predictions can be made by studying this. He claimed that the prediction would be more accurate than IMD.
