What is UGC-NET exam?
First of all you should understand that University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test is conducted for eligibility of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in all the universities and colleges of India. Eligibility for JRF and Assistant Professorship is decided on the basis of the performance of the candidate in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET. Candidates who qualify only for the post of Assistant Professor have to then follow the recruitment rules of the respective universities, colleges or state governments to become Assistant Professor.
when will the exam be held now
A senior official of the Ministry of Education said that the exam will be conducted again, for which information will be shared separately. Let us tell you that the exam was conducted in 317 cities across the country on Tuesday. About 81 percent of the more than 11.21 lakh registered candidates appeared in it. UGC-NET is conducted twice every year (June and December).
why was the exam cancelled
Let us tell you that the exam was held on Tuesday and it was cancelled on Wednesday night. Actually UGC had received some inputs from the National Cyber Crime Unit of the Home Ministry, which indicated that there was some tampering in the UGC NET exam. Therefore, the Ministry of Education decided to cancel this exam keeping in mind the purity of the examinations and the protection of the interests of the students.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), established in November 2017 under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860, is an autonomous body tasked with conducting several entrance examinations. The agency is headed by a distinguished educationist appointed by the HRD Ministry, currently headed by Pradeep Kumar Joshi, former UPSC chairman. The NTA conducts exams like NEET, JEE, CTET, GATE, GPAT, GMAT, CAT and UGC-NET.
