UP Teacher Recruitment: The controversy that has been going on for more than seven years regarding the list of 12091 selected under the recruitment of 72825 trainee teachers in council primary schools, which started in 2011, has now completely ended. The SLP regarding appointment of the candidates included in this list was rejected by the Supreme Court on Monday. This SLP was filed on behalf of the candidates included in the 12091 selection list against the order of the double bench of the High Court.
Candidates had filed petition last year: 12091 Some candidates included in the selection list had filed a petition in the Supreme Court for appointment last year. On which the Supreme Court had referred the petition to the High Court on 27 September 2023 without holding any hearing.
The Supreme Court had asked the candidates to present their views in the High Court. During the hearing in the High Court, the Single Bench had said on January 12, 2024 that those who have not been counseled should be counseled and appointment letters should be issued. On April 16, on the special appeal of the state government against this, the double bench of the High Court had canceled the order of the single bench saying that the order for counseling cannot be given after 13 years of the start of the appointment process. Dissatisfied with this, some candidates included in the 12091 selection list had filed a petition in the Supreme Court, which was rejected on Monday.
Advocate Agnihotri Kumar Tripathi, representing the selected candidates, said that the matter of recruitment of 72825 assistant teachers had reached the Supreme Court. On the instructions of the Supreme Court, the Basic Education Council prepared a list of eligible candidates scoring 65 to 70 percent marks. In which 12091 candidates were selected. His counseling was also done but he was not issued appointment letter. On the other hand, the state government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court and informed that a total of 66655 candidates have been appointed. On this, the Supreme Court directed the petitioners to present their views before the High Court. After that this petition was filed. The High Court, while hearing the petition, had sought a response from the government and finally ruled on 16 April 2024 that counseling cannot be ordered in a 13 year old recruitment. Challenging the court's decision, some candidates again went to the Supreme Court where their petition was rejected.
