UPSC Success Story: Your success lies not in never falling, but in getting up after falling. When something is not in your control, people are saying this. Only then is the real fun in doing it. Friends, “Don't stop working hard. Keep trying… you will definitely get success.” These are the thoughts of the country's dynamic IAS Ramesh Gholap.
The story of Ramesh Gholap becoming an IAS seems unusual. This is unusual because Ramesh did not achieve success just because he chose the right path, teachers and strategy. He got this success because he did not give up even in difficult circumstances. Such circumstances which would force even weak hearted people to accept defeat.
Ramesh, a resident of small village Mahagaon in Solapur district of Maharashtra, spent his childhood in extreme poverty and deprivation. At an early age his father's shadow was removed from his head. To earn a living, she worked with her mother to sell bangles on the streets. Not only this, Polia also took away his leg. Despite these circumstances, Ramesh Gholap never gave up. Due to his determination and hard work, he secured 287th position in the Civil Services Examination in 2012.
Ramesh's journey is inspiring
IAS officer Ramesh Gholap received his primary education from his village, after which he went to his uncle's house for further studies. At that time, the fare from Ramesh's uncle's house to his house was only seven rupees, but due to being disabled, his fare was only two rupees. But the financial situation was such that he did not even have two rupees. After completing 12th, he enrolled in Diploma. After this he started teaching as a teacher. While teaching, he also obtained BA degree.
There was failure in the first attempt
After this he decided to prepare for UPSC exam and he even left his job for a month. Attempted UPSC for the first time in 2010, but failed. Then his mother borrowed some money from the village people and sent him out to study. After going to Pune, he started preparing for UPSC without coaching. Cracked the Civil Services Examination in the year 2012. He had secured 287 rank in this exam. Ramesh Gholap got IAS category under handicapped quota.
