World Teachers Day 2024: Today World Teachers Day is being celebrated all over the world. While in India, Teacher's Day is celebrated every year on 5th September, globally, World Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5th October every year. Its purpose is to salute the contribution of teachers around the world, their dedication and devotion to duty, to encourage them and to increase awareness about their rights. Apart from this, it also aims to promote international solidarity and emphasize the importance of quality education at the global level.
World Teachers' Day (International Teachers' Day) is jointly organized by UNICEF, International Labor Organization and Education International (EI). Its celebration started in 1994.
what is history
On October 5, 1966, a conference was held in Paris in which the 'Teaching in Freedom' treaty was signed. In this treaty, many recommendations were made to raise the level of teachers' rights, responsibilities, recruitment, employment and teaching-learning. In 1994, UNESCO's recommendation was passed with the support of 100 countries to celebrate World Teachers' Day at the international level. After this, International Teachers' Day started being celebrated from 5 October 1994.
