Delhi Technological University DTU has announced recruitment for 225 posts of Professor and Assistant Professor. Of these, there are 67 vacancies for Professor of Practice while there are 158 vacancies for Assistant Professor. It is not mandatory to have UGC NET and PhD degree for Professor of Practice vacancy. DTU is going to recruit Assistant Professors under the Professor of Practice scheme of UGC to link university education with skills. Notifications for Assistant Professor recruitment for both Professor (POP – Professor of Practice) and Assistant Professor have been issued separately on DTU website dtu.ac.in. The last date of application for POP is 15 April 2024.
Professor of Practice – 67 Vacancies
Professionals and industry experts from various fields will teach as professors. The university itself will bear the expenses of the professor's salary. Professors of Practice can be people who are not teachers by their original occupation nor do they have a prescribed qualification like PhD or UGC NET for teaching in a university. The University will appoint students to teach on the basis of their extensive professional experience. Professors of Practice will teach students subjects in which they have extensive professional experience.
what are the qualifications
Persons who have expertise in their particular profession with at least 15 years of service or experience will be eligible for 'Professors of Practice'. These should not be teachers. Engineering, Science, Media, Literature, Entrepreneurship, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Civil Services, Law Profession, Panchayati Raj, Rural Services, Water Harvesting, Organic Farming, Small Green Energy System as per University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines. Experts in fields like Watershed Development and Armed Forces can apply for this recruitment. For this, UGC NET or PhD degree is not required. The basis of appointment will be only professional experience.
Maximum 3 or 4 years of service
The contract for becoming Assistant Professor under Professor of Practice will initially be for one year. Depending on the work, the contract will be extended for one year. The maximum period of service of POP will not exceed three years.
In exceptional cases it can be extended up to one year. In no case will the total period of service exceed four years.
Recruitment for 158 posts of Assistant Professor
The last date of application for this recruitment is 14 April 2024. Of the vacant posts, 54 are unreserved. 22 are reserved for SC, 16 ST, 49 OBC, 17 EWS and 6 for Divyang.
